Government brought NMC in place of MCI

मेडिकल काउंसिल ऑफ इंडिया के अध्यक्ष केतन देसाई को दो करोड़ रूपये रिश्वत लेते हुए रंगे हाथ गिरफ्तार कर लिया गया था. (Old News)

The situation in the pharmacy profession is similar, but no one raises any concerns. We witness corruption openly, and that's why we're on the decline. Now, we're on the brink of a dark phase, unsure of what will happen next. However, the number of middlemen is increasing, so it's crucial to oppose and remove them from the profession.

Meet man, an Indian genius, who founded first pharma company in India, he is called 'Father of Indian Chemistry. ,' has had many geniuses who contributed to the nation's development. Even with fewer facilities before India's independence, they achieved much and started many first things there. One such person was Acharya Prafulla Chandra Ray. He was a distinguished Indian scientist and educator, recognized as one of the earliest modern chemical researchers in India. Recently, August 2nd was commemorated as his birthday. Ray also established the first modern Indian research school in Chemistry and is regarded as the Father of Indian Chemistry.

Prafulla also founded India's first pharmaceutical company -- Bengal Chemicals and Pharmaceuticals -- in 1901. He was born in 1861 in Bengal Presidency in British India (now in Bangladesh). He passed the FA exam in 1881 and was admitted to the BA degree of the University of Calcutta as a chemistry student. In 1882, he moved to the UK at the age of 21. He won a scholarship and enrolled as a BSc. student at the University of Edinburgh without completing his original degree. Prafulla was also awarded a DSc. in 1887.

Trained at the University of Edinburgh, he was honoured by the British Government and received the title of Companion of the Indian Empire (CIE) and then with the Knighthood in 1919. Ray returned to India (Calcutta) in 1888. He joined Presidency College as an assistant professor of Chemistry in 1889. He spent many years at Presidency College and Calcutta University. Ray was an active supporter of the Swadeshi Movement of 1905.

He published around 150 research papers during his lifetime. He retired at the age of 75 in 1936, Ray remained a bachelor throughout his life. He passed away at the age of 82 in June 1944.

PCI and IPA...WhyClaimWhatYouAreNot?... Why no recognition to Pharmacists?

#WhyClaimWhatYouAreNot?

PCI is a Regulating body for Pharmacy Education Only.

Regulating Education & Regulating Profession are not the same by by my experience.

Registration is only a #GateKeeper's job to allow-in only those with proven documents.

That job doesn't make the Gatekeeper a Regulator of the happenings after entry.

State Councils are operating arbitrarily with no regards to the protocols specified in the Act & Rules.

How can we expect the PCI and State Councils to act as Regulator of the profession.

POV : Bhagwan PS

Why no recognition to Pharmacists?

1. Pharmacists who have served have not proved their special knowledge and proved to be indispensable in their foot prints in any sector.

2. Lets realize that Pharmacy has never been and is not a special course as was projected by PCI and IPA. It is like any other science course.

3. They get recognition on their worth.
     So don't generalize .

IPA should function like IMA to safeguard pharmacist

IPA should function like IMA to safeguard pharmacist

Nagpur: Administrator of the Maharashtra Medical Council (MMC), Dr Vinky Rughwani, unequivocally stated that the MMC will not grant registrations to homeopaths who complete a certificate course in modern pharmacology from Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS) and subsequently seek an MMC registration number which is exclusively reserved for modern medicine practitioners.
As a quasi-judicial entity, the MMC bears the responsibility of regulating medical education and upholding ethics within the state. It oversees approximately 1.8 lakh doctors and processes around 9,000 registrations annually. Although a BHMS (Bachelor of Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery) doctor can prescribe allopathic medicines upon completing a certificate course in modern pharmacology from MUHS, and the MMC Act contains a provision mandating such doctors to obtain affiliation and registration with the MMC, Dr Rughwani asserted that this could constitute injustice to modern medicine practitioners.
Furthermore, Dr Rughwani unveiled several pioneering initiatives undertaken by the MMC for the benefit of doctors in the state. Notable among these is the development of a mobile application named ‘Know Your Doctor’, designed to authenticate the credentials of doctors registered in Maharashtra. This groundbreaking app will provide comprehensive information about doctors and will be accessible to the general public, positioning the MMC as the first council to develop such an application for patients.
The impetus behind the app’s development stems from the alarming rise in unqualified medical practitioners treating patients. An MMC official emphasised the paramount importance of this initiative, particularly in the wake of the pandemic, as individuals can easily masquerade as doctors by presenting fraudulent medical certificates and licences.
